A garden rope chair is a fun project for outdoor relaxation.
Most of the materials used to create this chair can be found in your own backyard or barn.
It is sturdy, comfortable and only takes about five hours to build with simple tools.
Materials:
Wooden poles (3) cut to about 6 feet in length
Length of rope (4′ longer than the height of your tallest pole)
Two stakes about 2 feet in length
Tools:
Saw
Hammer and nails or small nails and a smaller nail used as a pivot.
1. Cut two poles to the same size and shape, then cut one peg that will serve as your chair’s armrest.
2. Place the two poles parallel to each other and nail together with two nails on either side.
3. Nail or hammer your armrest in place on one of the poles (the longer end of the rectangle shape).
4. Swing the second pole around and connect it to the first using your smaller nail as a pivot then secure with nails.
6. Add a loop of rope at the top of both poles to serve as a handle when carrying the chair to and from your favorite spot in the garden.
7. You can also add an optional third layer by adding another wooden pole between the two, connecting them at the armrest with no need for additional nails or hammers.
8. Make a loop of rope around the two poles near the armrest to secure your feet when swinging your garden rope chair, or wrap it all the way up to create a hand grip from pole to pole .
9. Add a cushion and enjoy!
In conclusion a garden rope chair is fun, easy to build and comfortable. If you can’t do it by yourself you can ask someone to help you . It will be a great experience and it can provide you with lots of fun time.
